Performs cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures upon patients with suspected deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Performs calibration, maintenance, and quality control procedures. Monitors oxygen therapy on the General Floors.  Performs Pulmonary Function Studies and ECGs on adult and pediatric patients. Performs Arterial Blood Gas acquisition and analysis. Administers testing procedures in a cost-effective manner; and in accordance with physicians written orders, protocols, and clinical pathways.  Administers respiratory care treatments and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardiopulmonary system, under supervision of Physician by prescription.  May recommend, evaluate and perform both basic and advanced respiratory care procedures by performing the following duties.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
 Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year AMA approved school for Respiratory Care required; Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care preferred.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
 Pulmonary function laboratory experience preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
 Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and licensure by the State of Illinois as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) required.
 Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) desirable.
 BLS required
