GENERAL SUMMARY/BASIC PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Grant Accountant is an entry level position that will perform a variety of accounting assignments within the Accounting Department. Record and report financial transactions, reconcile accounts and ensure compliance with GAAP control requirements. Work closely with other departments and business units regarding grant accounting activities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  • Assist in reviewing and monitoring grant files and grant documentation, including grant budgets, proposals, and financial and other reporting, to ensure compliance with System requirements and the law
  • Communicate with Program Managers to obtain required data for various corresponding journal entries
  • Assisting with reviewing grant financial reports
  • Assisting in the collection, consolidation, and maintenance of data necessary to meet grant reporting and evaluation requirements
  • Perform data entry and balancing of cash receipts records for grant reconciliation purposes.
  • Review monthly financials and generate accrual and correcting entries
  • Assist in preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports and reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end/year-end process, assist with year-end and ad hoc audits
  • Responsible for collecting and maintaining most current contract files
  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Associate Degree in Accounting or related field, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 1 - 3  years of experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced work environment
  • Attention to detail and committed to ensure integrity of deliverables
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Meditech and Axiom preferred
