POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Provides HVAC services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading HVAC systems and equipment; and assisting other skilled trades. Incumbent is subject to overtime and callback as required by the hospital.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
Installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilating, and air conditioning.
Monitors HVAC systems and operations as per the instruction of the lead HVAC, and ensures that routine preventive maintenance is performed according to established schedules and standards.
Checks, repairs and/or replaces valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, pipes and other functional components of the system.
As per guidance of lead HVAC ensures that proper tools and materials are readily available.
Responds to and completes work orders in a proper and timely fashion.
Troubleshoots and analyzes HVAC problems, records deficiencies and reports action taken or required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certificate from an approved HVAC apprenticeship program or trade school required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Two or more years of similar experience
Previous experience in hospital preferred
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend blueprints. Must possess understanding and knowledge of The Joint Commission Environment of Care standards, Illinois Dept. of Public Health building code requirements, and other applicable federal, state and local building code requirements for a hospital. Work requires operation or use of the following tools/equipment: standard hand or electrically operated tools, construction equipment and other portable tools. REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: EPA certification. Valid Driver’s license. |
